“This is my Father’s World. O let me ne’er forget that though the wrong seems oft so
strong, GOD IS THE RULER YET! This is my Father’s world.
Why should my heart be sad? THE LORD IS KING;
LET THE HEAVENS RING! GOD REIGNS,
LET THE EARTH BE GLAD "           What a week it has been!

Yesterday was the day I was
scheduled to go to Haiti to be with the Brethren Disaster
Team which was to arrive on Saturday. Of course all that
has changed in light of the recent earthquake. At this
point I do not have a date for returning. When I asked
Pastor Joel when I should return he answered, “My Sister, you are where God wants you to be right now.” I am sure if I was to go now they would feel responsible for me and they do not need anymore responsibility.

I know you have been seeing numerous news reports of
what has happened in Haiti. Here is what I know about
Vine Church and our people: There are 6 known dead including one of our deacons. The deacon was found and they were able to bury him. Their little girl is missing and is presumed dead.

Many people have lost their homes and some are living in the church. Thank God it can be a
place of refuge for them .

According to the engineer the church is structurally sound but has some cracks in the walls.

I just spoke with Pastor Joel on the phone and he says he will get a number of opinions of the soundness of the structure before having a large group of people go in the church . I certainly concur with this. Last Sunday they gathered outside the church on the street for a worship service.

Pastor Joel says that downtown Port-au-Prince is practically leveled and the homes that are standing will have to be demolished and rebuilt.

As you already know we were planning to have the dedication of the new building the second Sunday of July 2010. At this point I am thinking this is not going to happen. We will wait and see.

I know that you all have been praying for the people of Haiti. Please continue your prayers also for the many missionaries who are there . I am in contact with quite a few and they are working tirelessly to help wherever they can. Quisqueya Christian School has been turned into a hospital and a camp for some of the U.S. soldiers. I know of three missionaries who have been injured and airlifted to the U.S.

I have been busy on the phone and internet ever since this has happened doing networking .just one example: An orphanage in Alabama wants to take some Haitian orphans. I was able to give them the names of several orphanages in Haiti for them to contact. I want to thank you, too, for all the phone calls in regard as to whether I was in Haiti during the quake. Your concern for my safety has been overwhelming.

May God Bless you for your prayers for the Haitian people and your generosity in this time of this special need.
